An ice-breaker in which the Interactors introduced their clubs and projects to one another was followed by a leadership talk by a learner from Milnerton who has excelled in leadership programmes. Venue Parklands College provided good refreshments, then there were breakaway sessions to teach skills to the incoming Interact board members. Inspirational speakers spoke about what they had achieved through Rotaract and what all Rotaractors can do to ‘make a difference’. The Taiwanese were very hospitable and Taiwan proved a fascinating place to visit to experience a different culture. Here we see Lauren (right) with a friend.

28 – 30 JULY 2017
We are very proud that the Rotaract Club of Blouberg hosted and organised the Rotaract District Conference this year. It took place in the chilly but beautiful Matroosberg nature reserve. The theme was Medieval and the meeting hall was decorated appropriately. Bellville, Blouberg, Claremont, False Bay, Hout Bay, Mossel Bay, Sea Point, Stellenbosch, Windhoek and Wynberg clubs were present. On Saturday morning, the Rotaractors were split into groups and competed in outdoor games. After a break, they were very fortunate to have one of South Africa’s most renowned speakers, the Big Positive Guy Andre du Toit, address them. He delivered an electrifying talk aimed at stimulating the leaders of tomorrow. That afternoon, the Rotaractors collaborated on making inspirational artwork and sorting donated goods to give to a local needy school. The Medieval Banquet that night was a testament to hard work and good fun. Our President Carl conveyed his best wishes via a pre-taped video. Outgoing DRR Luc Gendron handed over to DRR Wesley Guastella. The next day, the District AGM handled the formalities of the Conference and allowed discussion of common challenges and new ideas. We were inspired by the enthusiasm of tomorrow’s Rotary leaders. Here is Andre du Toit together with Blouberg Rotaractors.

We were very excited to charter another Interact Club – the 4th to join our Blouberg family – the Interact Club of Curro Century City. The enthusiasm from the new Interactors & the school staff & principal is infectuous. The Interact teacher, Malcolm, is a former Claremont Rotaractor, so he is knowledgeable about Rotary. After he welcomed everyone, including an enthusiastic group of us Rotarians, he handed over to principal Sean, who reiterated the school’s commitment to community work. Our Pres. Les & DG Geraldine gave warm speeches explaining what it means to join the Family of Rotary & then the new Interact Club of 27 was chartered. They have an active few months of projects planned & we anticipate that this promising beginning will bear excellent fruit in years to come. Here we see President Gareth Dahl with DG Geraldine.
